About Me
Have you ever finished a book and thought “I wish I could have that adventure”?
If you’re like me, that happens all the time. That’s why, in addition to steeping myself in good stories, I try to live my life as an adventure. It’s easier than you might think. You don’t always have to jump out of airplanes or follow treasure maps to have adventures. Most of the time, it only takes a good attitude and a willingness to go wherever the road may take you.
My name is Jonathan, and I’m excited to get to know you! In addition to being a serious novelist, I’m a traveller, guitar player, runner, and avid reader. As you know, I’m also an adventurer, and I try to let the experiences of my life give flavour to the stories I create. Most importantly, I’m a child of God.
My adventure began in a small town in Northern Ontario, but it didn’t stay there for long. When I was 7, my family moved to Malawi, Africa to serve in cross-cultural ministry. My writing journey started shortly after. My attempt at historical fiction never won me any awards (it also never made it past half a page), but it did give me a taste for storytelling.
In high school, I began my first real novel, which took me close to two years to complete. More recently I’ve finished a thriller titled MANTECOR and a steampunk novella titled Skyshadow, with a fantasy series also in the works. I’m moving toward publication, so be sure to join my mailing list to be the first to hear when there’s news!
In between writing about heroic exploits, I’ve travelled to 25+ countries, visited 5 continents (and lost a tooth on each of the first four), rappelled into a sinkhole, ridden camels through the Thar desert, climbed countless mountains, and done a host of other crazy things. I currently live in New Zealand, where I serve in ministry and pretend to be a hobbit.
Adventures await, for those willing to find them. And I would like to invite you into my adventure. Will you join me as I wield my pen and quest across the known lands? I would love it if you did!
